Etung Lawmaker Kingsley Ntui Commends Bassey Edet Otu Over Sanitation Bill Assent

A member representing Etung State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Kingsley Ntui, has congratulated the Governor of the state, Bassey Edet Otu, alongside members of the 10th Assembly and the Speaker, following the signing of the Cross River State Open Defecation Prohibition Bill, 2026, into law.

In a statement, the lawmaker described the Governor’s assent to the bill as a landmark achievement, noting that the legislation represents a significant step toward improving public health and strengthening environmental sanitation across the state.


Ntui, who sponsored the bill, expressed satisfaction over its passage and eventual signing, emphasizing that the development reflects a shared commitment by the legislature and executive to promote human dignity and enhance the quality of life for residents.


He further commended stakeholders in the health sector for their contributions and collaboration, which he said played a crucial role in making the bill a reality.


According to him, the new law is expected to drive progress in sanitation practices and position Cross River State on a path toward becoming cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable.


The lawmaker reiterated the importance of collective responsibility, urging citizens and relevant authorities to support the implementation of the law to achieve its intended objectives.
