Julius Udayi, the governorship candidate of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, has called on security agencies to closely monitor what he described as parallel political activities by individuals parading themselves as candidates of the party in the state.

Udayi made the call during a press briefing in Cross River State following a statewide consultation and tour of the 18 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the consultations provided an opportunity for his team to correct what he described as a wrong narrative created by some individuals who have continued to present themselves as the governorship candidate and other candidates of the PDP in Cross River State.
He said the leadership dispute within the party had been resolved, stressing that the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja on the Osun State PDP governorship candidacy further reinforced the position of the faction under the leadership of Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
Udayi referred to the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on August 13, 2026, which upheld the nomination of Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola as the authentic governorship candidate of the PDP for the Osun State election.
He said the court recognised the candidate as having been validly nominated and presented by the Tanimu Turaki led PDP and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to include the party's logo on the ballot for the Osun State governorship election.
Udayi argued that the development had further strengthened his claim that he was validly nominated and presented as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Cross River State by the Turaki led leadership, alongside other candidates in his team.
He expressed concern over what he described as continued political activities by members of another faction of the PDP in the state, alleging that such activities could create tension and threaten the peace enjoyed by Cross River State.
Udayi specifically mentioned Senator Sandy Onoh and his supporters, accusing them of parading themselves as candidates of the PDP from what he described as the Wike faction.
He also alleged that the activities of the faction were being influenced by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and urged Cross Riverians to remain vigilant.
The PDP governorship candidate called on security agencies, particularly the Chief Security Officer of the state, to investigate the continued parallel political activities and take proactive steps to prevent any situation that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
“As law abiding citizens, beyond setting the records straight, we wish to use this medium to call on all the security agents in the state, particularly the Chief Security Officer of the state, to look into these recurring parallel political activities,” Udayi said.
He warned that continued presentation of rival candidates under the PDP could create confusion among party supporters and the general public, while urging security authorities to act before such tensions escalate.
Udayi further appealed to Cross Riverians to support the Turaki led PDP, insisting that those opposed to the leadership structure were acting against the interests of the state.
He called for continued support, trust and cooperation from party members and residents of Cross River State as the party moves forward under the leadership of Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the PDP and the development of Cross River State, while urging all stakeholders to uphold peace and democratic order.
