Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has appointed Dr Betta Edu as Director of Finance and Fundraising for the Bassey Otu/Peter Odey 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council, adding another responsibility to her political engagements ahead of the next general elections.
Edu’s appointment places her among the directors overseeing the campaign council, which comprises 43 directorates and 4,412 members drawn from the 18 local government areas of Cross River State.
The development comes shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Edu as Director of Women Mobilisation for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, giving her responsibilities within the party’s national campaign structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
An indigene of Adadama in Abi Local Government Area, Edu has maintained a presence in the political activities of the APC at both state and national levels.
Her latest appointment by Governor Otu highlights her continued involvement in the Cross River political structure while she prepares to undertake responsibilities associated with the party’s presidential mobilisation efforts.
As Director of Finance and Fundraising, Edu has been assigned a role within the campaign council focused on the financial and fundraising component of the governor’s re-election campaign. The appointment comes as political stakeholders begin preparations for the 2027 electoral contest.
Her dual roles at the state and national levels also reflect the participation of Cross River political figures in the wider organisational structure of the APC as the party prepares for the forthcoming elections.
With the campaign council bringing together thousands of members from across the state, Edu’s inclusion places her within the team responsible for coordinating activities in support of the Otu and Peter Odey ticket.
The appointments further position her to participate in the party’s campaign organisation in Cross River State and its broader mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
