Tinubu Assigns Otu, Edu, Enoh Strategic Roles in APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council

 The National President of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association, Dr. Peter Iyali, has congratulated Governor Bassey Otu, Dr. Beta Edu, and the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, on their recent appointments into key positions in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In separate congratulatory statements issued in Calabar, Iyali described the appointments as a clear demonstration of the confidence and trust the APC national leadership has in the capacity, experience, and political weight of the three Cross River indigenes.

According to the statement, Governor Bassey Otu was named the South-South Coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. The new role places the governor in direct charge of coordinating, harmonizing, and driving the party’s presidential campaign activities across all six states in the South-South geopolitical zone.

Iyali said Otu’s appointment was particularly significant considering the strategic importance of the South-South in national elections and the level of political mobilisation required to deliver the zone for the party in 2027.  

He noted that the responsibility would demand extensive coordination with state party structures, stakeholders, traditional institutions, and grassroots mobilisers across Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Rivers States.

The alumni president also congratulated Dr. Beta Edu on her appointment as Director of Women Mobilisation for the APC Presidential Campaign Council.  

Iyali said the role provides another national platform for Edu to deploy her experience in advocacy, grassroots engagement, and public service. He recalled that Edu previously served as a federal minister and has remained active in party activities.  

He added that her new assignment would focus on driving female voter participation, organising women groups, and ensuring that women’s interests are well represented in the party’s 2027 campaign strategy.

Dr. Iyali further commended the appointment of Senator John Owan Enoh, who currently serves as Minister of State for Industry in the Federal Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment, as the head of the Manufacturing and MSME Sector Mobilisation Directorate of the campaign council.

He recalled that Enoh made history as the first serving senator from Cross River State to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, a decision he said played a major role in strengthening the party’s structure and acceptance in the state.  

Iyali noted that Enoh’s current ministerial portfolio and his long years of engagement with industrialists, entrepreneurs, and small business owners position him well to lead the campaign council’s outreach to the manufacturing and MSME sectors.

The UNICROSS Alumni President said the appointments have significantly increased the number of Cross River indigenes occupying strategic positions in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

He urged Governor Otu, Dr. Edu, and Senator Enoh to leverage their new offices to deepen party mobilisation, foster unity within the APC, and ensure that the voices and interests of Cross River people are reflected in the party’s national campaign agenda.

Iyali expressed optimism that with capable hands like Otu, Edu, and Enoh on board, the APC would be well positioned to consolidate its gains and deliver victory in 2027.
