The Senior Special Assistant on Gender Mainstreaming, Utibe Bassey-Duke, on 24th of December 2025, organised a surprise birthday celebration in honour of the Chief Executive Officer of Calabar Gist, one of Cross River State’s most influential digital media platforms.

The well-attended event brought together friends, colleagues, associates, and well-wishers from across Calabar and beyond, creating an atmosphere of warmth, appreciation, and goodwill.
Speaking at the event, Utibe Bassey-Duke described her relationship with the celebrant, whom she met in February 2024, noting his consistency, generosity, and commitment to supporting others.
“
From the moment I met him, he has always shown up not just for me, but for everyone. Once he knows you, or even if he doesn’t, he gives his all to help and make people comfortable. Today, we chose to show him the same love he constantly shows others” she said.
She added that the celebration was organised to remind the CEO that his efforts are recognised and appreciated, while wishing him a life of prosperity, fulfilment, and continued success.
In his response, the CEO of Calabar Gist, widely regarded as one of Cross River State’s most prominent bloggers, expressed deep surprise and gratitude over the gesture, describing the event as a significant personal milestone.
“This is my first-ever outdoor birthday celebration, and I am truly overwhelmed. Last year was an indoor surprise, and now this God has indeed been faithful,” he said.
He thanked the organisers and all attendees for their love, support, and generosity, praying that God would replenish and bless everyone who contributed to making the celebration a success.
“I am sincerely grateful for this beautiful gathering and for everyone who came out to celebrate with me,” he concluded.
