Tawo, in his Independence Day message, joined Nigerians in celebrating the resilience and determination of the people, while urging leaders to ensure that the principles of democracy translate into meaningful benefits for citizens.
He said the anniversary should provide an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the country’s democratic journey and the need for governance that prioritises accountability, security, justice and economic opportunity.
According to him, political leadership should focus more on competence, integrity and measurable service to the people rather than promises and divisions.
Tawo stressed that the future of Nigeria belongs to its citizens, urging Nigerians to continue participating peacefully in the democratic process and to demand accountability from those entrusted with public responsibilities.
He also encouraged citizens to contribute to the building of a country where leadership is centred on public service and the welfare of the people.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful and meaningful 66th Independence Anniversary, expressing hope for a better Nigeria built on responsible leadership, service and commitment to the people.
