Political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections received a major boost following the release of the timetable for the elections and the announcement of candidates who emerged victorious during the party's primary elections in Cross River State.

According to the schedule, party primaries and nomination of candidates were held between April 23 and May 30, 2026. The Presidential and National Assembly elections are slated for January 16, 2027, while Governorship and State House of Assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027. Campaigns for Presidential and National Assembly candidates will run from August 19, 2026, to January 15, 2027, while campaigns for Governorship and State Assembly candidates will commence on September 9, 2026, and end on February 5, 2027.
At the conclusion of the primaries, Peter Gregory Obi emerged as the party's presidential candidate, while John Upan Odey secured the governorship ticket.
For the Senate, Bassey Eko Ewa won in Cross River Central, Patrick Amajama emerged in Cross River North, while Egwu Arong clinched the ticket for Cross River South.
The party also produced candidates for the eight federal constituencies in the state, including Francis Dukka, Ekpo Christopher Edet, Itokem Obassey Okon, Jesam Michael, Tawo Obah Edom, Ojugo Henry Oben, Akah Peter Otu and Jeddy Agbe Joseph Kesimbah.
For the State House of Assembly, candidates emerged across the 25 state constituencies, with party members selecting representatives for Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Calabar South I and II, Akamkpa I and II, Biase, Yakurr I and II, Abi, Obubra I and II, Etung, Ikom I and II, Boki I and II, Ogoja, Yala I and II, Bekwarra, Obanliku, Obudu, Calabar Municipality and Odukpani.
The primary election committee reported that the exercise was generally peaceful and orderly, noting that party members and delegates demonstrated commitment to democratic principles throughout the process.
With the candidates now confirmed and the election timetable in place, attention is expected to shift to campaigns as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
