Five distinguished personalities from Cross River State have been nominated for honours at the Global Achievers Award (GAA) 2026, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to governance, politics, public service, and entrepreneurship.
The award ceremony is slated for Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, where individuals from across Nigeria will be celebrated for excellence, leadership, and impactful service.
Leading the list of nominees is the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Peter Odey, who has been nominated for the Most Outstanding Deputy Governor of the Year Award. His nomination acknowledges his leadership, loyalty, and contributions to the state's development agenda.
Also recognised is the Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, who has been nominated for the Iconic Legislator of the Decade Award. The nomination highlights his legislative contributions, advocacy, and representation of his constituents in the National Assembly.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River State, Hon. Chief Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar, has been selected for the Chief of Staff of the Year Award in recognition of his administrative leadership and commitment to effective governance.
Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Cross River Central, Hon. Oden Ibiang Ewa, will receive the Emerging Politician of the Year Award 2026, reflecting his growing influence and contributions to the state's political landscape.
Completing the list is Evangelist Michael Asuquo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Faithplant Global International Services Limited, who has been nominated for the Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The recognition celebrates his achievements in business, philanthropy, and community development.
The organisers noted that the nominees represent the growing influence of Cross River indigenes across public service, politics, and the private sector, with each making significant contributions in their respective fields.
The Global Achievers Award 2026, themed "Honouring Impact, Elevating the Future," is organised by Moj Entertainment Nigeria Limited in collaboration with the Yala Achievers and Development Initiative (YADI).
The event, which will commence at 6:00 p.m. on August 1, is expected to bring together government officials, business leaders, humanitarian organisations, and other distinguished guests to celebrate individuals driving positive change across Nigeria.
