Lady Glory Felix Presents Christmas Largesse to Women in Akamkpa I, II

Women across Akamkpa I and II wards have received a major boost ahead of the Yuletide following the presentation of Christmas largesse by the wife of the Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Lady Glory Felix Akposi. The outreach, held amid large attendance and warm solidarity, underscored a renewed commitment to inclusive welfare and grassroots support for women in the area.

Commends Governor’s Wife for Sustained Compassion

The Christmas package, facilitated through the magnanimity of the wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Her Excellency Bishop (Dr) Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Edet Otu, comprised several bags of beans, bags of rice, assorted condiments, and cash donation for beneficiaries.

Addressing the women of Akamkpa I and II, Lady Glory Felix conveyed profound appreciation to the Governor’s wife for what she described as consistent, strategic and motherly intervention in the lives of women across the state. She noted that the gesture has not been a one off act of charity but part of a sustained social investment framework aimed at cushioning economic pressures and restoring dignity at the grassroots.

“The Governor’s wife is truly a mother. She is tireless, displaying the virtue of compassion and empathy. Just recently, she carried out an empowerment programme and now, we are here distributing Christmas largesse. What more could we have asked for?” Lady Akposi stated.

She further urged the women to ensure equitable and conscientious distribution of the items, stressing that the intervention was designed to reach the most vulnerable members of society.

“She has been doing this and she has done it again this year. I implore all of us to carry this grace and goodies home to our people. Ensure it reaches the aged, the widows and other members of Team Mma Adiaha in our respective villages,” she added.

In her remarks, the Akamkpa Local Government Coordinator of Team Mma Adiaha, Hon. Mary Pius Edet, echoed similar sentiments, describing the humanitarian gesture of Bishop (Dr) Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Edet Otu as an outpouring of overflowing grace marked by vision and panache. She charged women in the area to deepen unity, mutual support and collective responsibility as a pathway to sustained progress.

Responding on behalf of beneficiaries, the Team Mma Adiaha Coordinator for Uyanga Ward, Mrs. Cecilia Edu, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the wife of the Governor for remembering women at a critical time. She encouraged women across Akamkpa to leverage the Team Mma Adiaha platform by registering as members, noting that the initiative provides a structured channel for harnessing women’s potentials, amplifying their voices and increasing their participation in political and governance processes.

The event reinforced the growing profile of Team Mma Adiaha as a transformative platform for women mobilisation, social protection and political inclusion, while further affirming the humanitarian footprint of the wife of the Governor and the responsive leadership at the Akamkpa Local Government level.
