CALABAR – A controversy has emerged within a pro-Tinubu support structure in Cross River State following allegations that a national officer of the movement was sidelined during a recent rally held in Calabar.
The event, organised under the banner of “Relax Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria,” reportedly drew supporters and stakeholders across the state to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its Renewed Hope Agenda.
However, sources present at the rally alleged that Honourable Shedrach Egede, the National Director of Strategic Deployment and Implementation of the group, was not accorded official recognition during the programme.
Egede, who is said to coordinate grassroots structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, was reportedly in attendance at the event but did not speak or receive formal acknowledgement during the proceedings.
According to multiple sources, the national officer also contributed financially towards the success of the rally, but was allegedly treated as an observer throughout the programme. It was further claimed that his name and official designation were not announced during key segments of the event, including the main gathering held at the Dome in Calabar Municipal Council.
Some stakeholders familiar with the situation alleged that efforts made by aides of the national director to ensure his inclusion in the programme lineup were unsuccessful.
The development has since generated discussions among supporters of the group, with concerns raised over internal cohesion, recognition of national officers, and the management of party-aligned mobilisation structures at the state level.
Certain sources also alleged that the Cross River State Coordinator of the group, Engr. Anjor Obande, may have played a role in the exclusion, suggesting possible internal rivalry within the organisation. These claims, however, remain unverified.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Cross River State Coordinator nor the national leadership of the group has issued an official response to the allegations.
Observers say the development, if not addressed, could raise questions about unity and coordination within the pro-Tinubu mobilisation network in Cross River State, especially as political advocacy activities continue across the country in support of the federal administration.
Efforts to obtain official clarification from relevant stakeholders were ongoing at press time.
