PADBANK MOBILE OUTREACH ON THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE 2025 INTERNATIONAL 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

PadBank Mobile Outreach joins millions across the world today to mark the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, an annual global campaign calling for the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls.
As an initiative committed to ending menstrual poverty, promoting dignity, and empowering the girl child, PadBank recognizes that gender-based violence goes beyond physical harm, it also includes structural, cultural, and economic barriers that limit a girl’s ability to live with freedom, confidence, and equal opportunity.
One of these silent but devastating barriers is menstrual inequality, which continues to expose thousands of girls to shame, stigma, exploitation, and educational disadvantages.
Across many underserved communities in Cross River State, girls still face discrimination, mockery, and emotional abuse simply because they cannot access sanitary pads. Some are forced into unsafe alternatives, while others engage in risky coping mechanisms, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation and gender-based violence.
This year’s theme, “UNiTE! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women & Girls,” directly speaks to the heart of our mission at PadBank. We believe that access to menstrual products is not a luxury, it is a right, and providing pads, education, and psychosocial support is a crucial investment in the safety and dignity of young girls.
As we enter this 16-day global campaign, PadBank Mobile Outreach reaffirms its commitment to:
Reaching girls in rural and hard-to-reach communities;
Providing safe menstrual health education and empowerment;
Creating safe spaces for girls to speak, learn, and grow;
Advocating for a society where girls are protected, valued, and respected.
We call on government agencies, NGOs, faith leaders, community stakeholders, and well-meaning individuals to join us in this movement. Ending gender-based violence is a collective responsibility, and every act of support brings us one step closer to a safer world for women and girls.
