Since its inauguration, the 10th National Assembly has moved to establish over 60 new national hospitals and federal medical centres across the country.
This figure does not include bills seeking to create new universities and colleges of health and medical sciences, which continue to rise.
According to yet-to-be-updated data from the Ministry of Health, Nigeria currently has about 20 teaching hospitals, including the National Hospital in Abuja, and 22 federal medical centres.
